New Haven apartment

Using the furniture of George Nakashima as inspiration, two custom dining tables were built from monumental, book-matched slabs of black walnut, allowing a variety of configurations for entertaining: a round table for 10, two tables for 6 each, or end-to-end refectory style for 14; another slab from the same tree tops the sideboard. American Black Walnut, Rosewood panels and inlay, varnish. A coffee table was constructed from two over-sized cherry slabs: one became the free-edged top, the other becomes the two-part base. American Cherry, Rosewood inlay, varnish. A wall console was built from the unused wood from the coffee table. The box, below, has a sliding panel. American Cherry, Rosewood panel & inlay, varnish.
